The main goal of the association is the promotion of the exchanges and cultural ties between Africa and Europe. To create mutual understanding and respect is our aim.
“Bahati ya Uhuru” means “ Happiness of freedom” in Kiswahili. Freedom which Europe has taken away from Africans in the past, also consists in caring for, protecting and developing the own cultural heritage. We would like to learn from and promote this rich heritage and knowledge of the many diverse African societies.
For example:
– Promote artists and artisans in Africa and the diaspora
– Connect different initiatives
– Sell African products, art and handicrafts at fair prices
– Promote the cultural exchange between Africa and Europe
To quote the Kenyan 2004 Peace Nobel Prize winner and founder of the “Green Belt Movement” Wangari Maathai:
We can work together for a better world, with men and women of goodwill those who radiate the intrinsic goodness of human kind.
